Nashayte Rising

Nashayte is the name given to a peninsula by the Wampanoag tribe on Cape Cod. Literally, the “tract between two tidal streams.” The piece of sculpture in the following images inspired me to create a horizontal triangle or peninsula echoing the vertical triangles formed by the sections of an old sailboat. I felt compelled to honor the indigenous people of the region.
